Seven Quilts For Seven Sisters
"A Stitch In Time"

Come see the Seven Quilts for Seven Sisters!

"Performers, calling themselves "Seven Quilts for Seven Sisters" are originally of the Williams family of Clayton New Jersey. Their quilt show, A Stitch In Time", travels back to the old south and days of slavery in a performance featuring song, dance, history, stories, skits and quilts.  Their lively performance depicts the joys of sisterhood and the trials of slave life and how quilting helped them cope.  With their combined knowledge of African American Slave History and the practical craft of quilting, their program is dedicated to the idea of educating the public with entertainment.

The practical craft of quilt-making and how it flourished in early African American slave life is a story seldom told. These early Americans helped to transform this common craft into a true art form. Today the tradition continues all across America."

Come out to see them! "Prepare yourself for a memorable experience of cultural enlightenment made up of a rich blend of historical information, authentic period costumes, heart-warming tall tales and soul stirring spiritual harmonies. The program also includes a wonderful display of colorful quilts. So sit back while the sisters inform and entertain you."
